First of all, I do NOT have a problem with the song "How Great Thou Art". Second of all, if you put the title of this and what I just said together, you should know what I'm talking about. Thirdly, if you've ever spoke to me on a subject like this (in person), you will understand my point of view much more.
I've listened to it. It was a nicely sung song. But I still don't buy it. Not judging her/her work/her salvation or anything like that (if you're still reading and haven't closed this out) but from an artist like her is to me, almost a slap in the face of God. Yes I just said that and yes I may change my mind on that later. We are talking about the same artist that wrote "Jesus Take The Wheel" in 2005 that was somewhat OK from a Christian standpoint. YES we do need to let Christ have control in our life, I agree 100% with that. But it destroys something important called your "testimony" when you have a song also at the same time called "Before He Cheats". Now, for all her fans who haven't closed out this page, thinking that I'm just lashing out just "because I'm a guy", take notes here. If you are a Christian, do you enjoy/partake/promote anything that has to do with alcohol? Look here:

Take this from an English perspective. This means that she, herself, drinks whiskey from this point of view.
Do you see what I mean? We have people now following her that will believe that it is OK with God to be a drunk. I'M SORRY, last time I checked, Ephesians 5:18 still says be NOT drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the spirit. Simple as that. And don't give me that little talk about "you have to do what makes money in the industry" junk, YOU DON'T.

Do we really even have to go into the meaning of this song? Let me put a scriptural reference to how God feels about those who are always "hot and cold" in His work.

If there was to be any real "sticking power" to her singing that old gospel song, it would be to turn from all the mess she used to sing about. Even though the chances of her ever seeing this blog are very very slim, I want to challenge her from here to really start living for God through her singing. Stop singing these songs about being a loose drunk and only sing songs to God. Who cares about the money? I've had a happier life serving Christ with less money on hand to waste than when I had enough money to walk into almost any store any day with enough to get almost anything I'd ever want.

First Message
Yesterday I preached my first ever message after answering my call to preach on Easter Sunday. I've never done anything like it before so I was giving a short message to junior church (8-13 year old). My text was based out of the "Spiritual Defense" message I had wrote and I had everything lined up right just as I had planned.
What I didn't realize at the time was that the message I had was a little deep into the Bible and that it's not always easy to preach to younger kids like that cause they're in between the ages of being just little kids and becoming young adults. I also didn't realize that because it was the first time I had ever done this that all my notes and areas I was going to expound somewhat into the word would fly right out the door when it was time to say them.
Nevertheless, I did share what I had and I do believe it will work in their hearts about keeping them from temptation. After all, even though I seemed to be the one that got the most out of my own message, I believe there were a few that will start to study and let the word get into their hearts as well. :)
Mark 16:15 - And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
